Why you should come for camp

This camp is an opportunity for Christian young working adults from diverse backgrounds and denominations to encourage, fellowship, share, and learn from one another.

Everyone wants to feel passionate about their job, but passion and pay do not always go hand in hand. The trick for many of us is to figure out how to balance the love for our jobs versus putting food on the table. Can both intersect, or must we always sacrifice one for the other ?

During these four days, we will have speakers who will share their challenges, experiences, and joy in living their lives; sessions that will make us rethink about our life and how we can improve our current way of living, and of course - making new friends !

We seek to actively engage our world and make an impact for Christ in the marketplace, where the daily business and economics of life take place. The iBridge and Impact community is here to help you find spiritual friends who are also fellow pilgrims on this journey.

Turning Points

The reality of adulthood can be a pretty scary thing for anyone to face. Graduating from college and being catapulted into the “real world” is a little like free-falling. All of a sudden, you are asked to make crucial decisions pertaining to things like finances, career, where to live and how to live. You are forced to take up responsibilities for your life, regardless of whether you are ready or not.

What is more, the myriad of choices available these days does not make things simpler, with job titles that have never been heard of 10 years ago coming up, options for professional advancement, while the world around us becomes increasingly globalized. The traditional progression in which people complete school, move out from home, start careers, build a family and retire is not necessarily expected anymore. Is there something that we can cling onto in these times of uncertainty? Believe it or not, God wants to be actively involved in your decision-making processes. He cares for you very deeply, and wants to give you an abundant life.

Speaking of which, work is an activity we spend a significant amount of our time doing. However, feelings of dissatisfaction or a lack of direction can affect anyone at any point in their lives. Perhaps you are someone who has only entered the workforce for a few months, but you are already beginning to feel jaded with the rat race. Or you have been working for 6 years and feel like you might have hit the glass ceiling in your field of work. You’re thinking, “There’s definitely got to be more than just this”. God actually desires for us to find personal meaning in our vocations. “A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God.” (Ecclesiastes 2:24)

Under any circumstances, we need to trust in Him to provide for our needs. He will never abandon us, leaving us without anything to rely upon. As we journey along our lives, His will shall be made clearer, and over time, we will be given opportunities to learn and grow.

Come join us for the camp to find out more.

Moving On!

As a Christian young working adult we find that many of our peers (Christian & non Christian friends) will go their own ways after College. In the working world we find that many of us are struggling with our walk with God because we do not have a common place to meet up with our peers beside church. Even in church many of the young working adults find that the church do not have young working adult classes just for them. Most churches have Sunday school classes for the children, youth alive or youth classes for the youth and some classes for the adult but how about the young working adults? Because of this many churches have few young working adults. This is where the iBridge camp or GCF come in.

We all know that we cannot live on an island by ourselves for human beings are meant to be connected with one another to help each other go on with life and to have much more meaningful lives. We do not face the same problems in life, but all of us will face some problems in life. We learn from one another's experiences and we can also pray for one another.

In 2003, one of my church member introduced me to the iBridge camp  in Fraser's Hill. Since I didn't mind getting to know more people was free at that time, I went. There I made many friends and I have kept contact with quite a number of them since then. I learned about the many issues in working life, how to overcome problems at work, what are the young adults are facing in life besides the word of God. The camp was a good balance between the word of God and real issues at work, with the emphasis on how to be impactful in the market place.

We still keep in touch with one another after the camp by going to watch movies, playing captainball, "yum cha", bowling, etc. This has made my life more meaningful. Sometimes when I am facing some issues, some of them encourage me, help me and pray for me. Just recently, one of my friends Jimmy helped me to find a job with the organization “Focus On The Family”. I am really thankful for that because it is such a wonderful place to work in.

I wish that all of you would be able to come for this year's iBridge / Impact Camp 2012. I am sure that those who come would be really thankful for such a wonderful camp that GCF has organised.
