Welcome note
By Florence Wee

A friend of mine recently got his hands on a latest smart phone product in the market- Samsung Galaxy SIII. He was extremely excited while describing the discoveries of his new toy in a catching up session. Well, perhaps trying to convince me or mainly himself (I believe) that the features of the phone and the price paid can draw an equal sign. I have no intentions to do any advertising for the phone after his long winding-detailed descriptions; however, one of the features caught my attention—The S beam. Apparently, the feature allows to you to transfer pictures, videos, music and many more, just by putting 2 phones back-to-back. Hmm… interesting and it got me thinking. We had evolved from an infrared-file transferring (2 mobile phones putting side by side) to Bluetooth (wireless) and now the S beam. Is it somehow pointing out that the transferring of files is better through the 2 phones putting together? Well, I shall leave it to individual interpretation.

As a Christian in this day and age, whether you are a fresh graduate looking for an awesome job, a very much structured 9-to-5 employee, a person who is working towards your goal or a budding entrepreneur, each and every one of us are being placed in the world to do great things for the Lord. Thus, we are 24/7 connecting to people around us with our actions, attitudes and words. Whatever we are, whatever we do and wherever we are, we ought to put it in mind that we are the “S beamers”. We are the living testimony and the ambassador of Christ. Well, picture this yourself. Along the lifelong narrow path where God put us in a certain place, we are to build bridges with our powerful “S beams” to reach out to the people around us, impacting them with MASSIVE blows which will lead them to change their minds. Finally, to welcome them to join us in this wonderful journey of taking up the cross and follow Him. At the end of the journey, He welcomes his faithful servants to enter into His kingdom. (Matthew 7:21-23). Hence, this lands us to our iBridge camp 2012 theme “Building bridges, Impacting the marketplace.”

There might be tons and tons of questions stirring up: “Where is my dream job?” “I am building bridges in my market place all this while but am I making a difference?” “etc. I am definitely not a person who can provide answers; nevertheless, there are wise Christians from different marketplace whom we have invited who can certainly guide you to seek answers from Him. So, come! Come! Come! Come and join us in iBridge Camp 2012.

Before I put a full stop to this welcome note, I would like to bring up an interesting article I read lately. A graduate from Georgetown University with a master's in business administration in 2011, Christina Mercado turned her unemployment stress into writing, illustrating and self-publishing a children’s book “You can do it, Bunny!” Depicting herself as the character “Bunny” in episodes of her jobs search, it was an inspiration taken from other entrepreneurs to turn an avocational project into an opportunity in time of unemployment. I hope this encourages everyone. God has turned our mourning into joy! Till then, God bless and au revoir!
